Bellmunt del Priorat is a small municipality of the region of the Priorat, placed a few kilometres of the capital of the region, Falset. Priorat is placed in the south of Catalonia, it has medieval origins, and part of the municipal area formed part of the ancient priorato of the cartuja Escaladei. The municipality preserves vestiges of past epochs that they make us travel in the time, one of the most out-standing is Siruana's Saracen fortress in which they could have found remains of one of the most ancient mosques of Catalonia. It is in addition one of the most important mining centers of Catalonia, and the first one in the industry of the lead. With almost a score of mines, Bellmunt was the principal mining center of the whole mining basin that spreads over Catalonia among the municipalities of Falset, Bellmunt del Priorat and the Molar. Finally the visitors will be able to enjoy the village visiting the parochial church of Saint Lucia, which is one most significant buildings, constructed between ends of the 17th century and the beginnings of the 20th century as well they will be able to visit the ancient Mining tail where the miners were living and as well their families and were they made some of the services of the mining company as the guardianship.
