Bavarian Alps Germany

The Bavarian Alps is a collective name for several mountain ranges of the Northern Limestone Alps in the German state of Bavaria and part of Austria. The mountains stretch east-northeast for about 70 miles (110 km) from the Lechtal Alps to the bend of the River Inn near Kufstein, Austria. The highest peak in the Bavarian Alps, and in Germany overall, is the Zugspitze. Located in the western part of the Wetterstein range, it has a distinctly high Alpine character, rising to 2,962 m above sea level and featuring two small glaciers.
