Alta Ribagorça Spain

Alta Ribagorça is one of the counties of Catalonia, Spain. Its capital is Pont de Suert. The highest peak is Comaloformo (3,030 metres above sea level) in the Bessiberri massif. In the northeast of the region is the western part of the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park, and it is connected with the Aran Valley through the Vielha tunnel. The Catalan Romanesque Churches of the Vall de Boí are UNESCO World Heritage Sites (listed on 30 November 2000). In the northeast of the area, the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park attracts a large number of visitors. The local Ribagorçan dialect is a variant of Catalan, with some transitional features towards Aragonese.
