Sabadell, Spain

Sabadell Spain

The city was a pioneer of the Industrial Revolution in Catalonia in the textile sector and by the mid-19th century it had become the most important wool-producing city in Spain, known as the “Catalan Manchester” in the second half of the 19th century. Today you can see numerous chimneys and steam mills, many of them converted into social facilities such as libraries or youth centres. This textile heritage has given the city a distinctly industrial character. In recent decades, Sabadell has diversified its economy around the service sector.
