Gap is a town in south‑eastern France and is the capital and largest settlement of the Hautes‑Alpes department. At 750 metres above sea level, it is France’s highest prefecture. During the summer months, the town-centre traders’ association, Les Vitrines de Gap, organises “Nocturnes” – musical and festive evenings when the shops in the town centre stay open from 7pm until 11pm. Every May, an Expo Fair also takes place in the Parc de la Pépinière.
