Chimanimani National Park Zimbabwe

The border between Zimbabwe and Mozambique runs north–south along the highest peaks of the Chimanimanis. These mountains are really for people who like to explore on foot and experience the grandeur and majesty of being alone in a wild place. ZPWMA say they have a deliberate policy of limiting development within the National Park to preserve its natural, pristine beauty and the wild landscapes of this mountainous area. For walkers familiar with the south‑western Cape, Chimanimani both feels and looks very similar, the difference being that Chimanimani has far fewer visitors and a much stronger sense of isolation and of being very much in touch with wild nature. Chimanimani National Park also includes the Eland Sanctuary. It’s mountainous terrain with peaks reaching 2,436 metres (7,992 feet) and is the source of many streams, springs and natural waterfalls, such as Bridal Veil Falls in the Eland Sanctuary, with spectacular views of the Pork Pie Mountain Range. Wildlife in Chimanimani National Park is not abundant, but it does include species such as eland, sable, bushbuck and blue duiker; klipspringer and leopard are seen less frequently.
