Val d'Isère is a commune in the Tarentaise Valley, in the Savoie department in south‑eastern France. It lies on the edge of the Vanoise National Park, which was established in 1963. Other alpine skiing events held there during those Games included the men’s giant slalom and alpine combined. The town centre is very attractive and lively; the architecture is very appealing and has been improved in recent years.
