Eskişehir is a city in northwestern Turkey and the capital of Eskişehir Province. The city lies along the banks of the Porsuk River, overlooking the fertile Phrygian Valley, and there are hot springs in the nearby hills. It is known as a university city, home to both Eskişehir Osmangazi University and Anadolu University. MAIN TOURIST ATTRACTIONS • Odunpazarı – Despite the city’s name literally meaning “old city,” this is the only part of Eskişehir where traditional 19th‑century houses have not been demolished in favour of newer buildings. • Yazılıkaya – A rock carving left by the Phrygians, with inscriptions on it. Yazılıkaya is located south of Eskişehir, near a village of the same name. A much smaller replica can be seen in the square beside the intercity highway, across from the main gate of Anadolu University’s Yunusemre Campus.
