Glencoe United Kingdom

Glen Coe is one of Scotland’s most famous and dramatic glens, its haunting scenery echoing its dark past and the massacre of the MacDonalds. It’s a real pilgrimage spot for keen walkers, dominated by the iconic pyramid of Buachaille Etive Mòr, which stands guard at the entrance to the glen. The highest peak is the broad, multi-summited massif of Bidean nam Bian, whose three great buttresses loom above the road and are known as the “Three Sisters”. On the north side of the glen, the jagged, turreted ridge of the Aonach Eagach has a fearsome reputation among hikers. Just to the south lies the quieter, more secluded Glen Etive, ringed by its own impressive mountains. To the north and east of Glencoe is beautiful Loch Leven, with the town of Kinlochleven at its eastern end tucked under the Mamores range, where the walking is every bit as thrilling as in Glencoe itself.
