Kyllini is a port town and community in the municipal unit of Kastro-Kyllini, Elis, Greece. It lies on the Ionian Sea coast, 11 km west of Andravida, 28 km north-east of Zakynthos and 39 km north-west of Pyrgos. From Kyllini’s port, there are several ferry connections to the Ionian islands of Zakynthos and Cephalonia. It was once the terminus of the now dismantled Kavasila–Kyllini railway. The ruins of the medieval town of Glarentza are located in Kyllini. The town takes its name from Cyllene, a port town of ancient Elis. As well as being an important port in western Greece, Kyllini is a popular holiday destination. The Kyllini area has many seaside hotels and luxury resorts. Kyllini boasts beautiful beaches and there are numerous sights and picturesque villages to visit nearby. One of the highlights in Kyllini is its thermal springs, located in a beautiful forest just 10 km from the port. Close to the port of Kyllini, you’ll find many places of historical and cultural interest, well worth a visit, especially if you’re planning a road trip around the western Peloponnese.
