Lazio is one of the 20 administrative regions of Italy. Located in the central part of the peninsula, it has around 5,897,635 inhabitants, making it the second most populated region in the country (after Lombardy and just ahead of Campania). With an annual GDP of over €170 billion, it also has Italy’s second-largest regional economy. The capital of Lazio is Rome, which is also the capital of Italy and the country’s largest city.
