Leganés Spain

Leganés is a city in central Spain and part of the greater Madrid urban area. Largely a satellite town, it had a population of 186,066 as of 1 January 2009 and lies about 11 km southwest of central Madrid. Leganés is home to a campus of Universidad Carlos III, founded in 1989, specifically the Escuela Politécnica Superior (EPS), which offers degrees in Telecommunications Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Engineering and many other disciplines. Universidad Carlos III is recognised as a leading university in Spain for both research and teaching. The university’s other campuses are located in Getafe and Colmenarejo, but the Leganés campus is the only one with a sports centre. The student residence in Leganés is called Fernando Abril Martorell and can accommodate 300 students.
