Lossiemouth United Kingdom

Lossiemouth is known as the Riviera of the North – a coastal town where two stunning beaches, one to the east and one to the west, frame the harbour. Much of the town sits on top of a cliff, offering spectacular coastal views. The West Beach is dominated by the iconic Covesea Lighthouse and sits beside Moray Golf Course, while the East Beach meets the town at the mouth of the River Lossie – the origin of the town’s name – with beautiful sandy shores and dunes stretching the length of the coastline. Both beaches are much-loved havens for locals and visitors alike, ideal for swimming, surfing or building sandcastles. Lossiemouth’s white-sand beaches seem to run on for ever. Known simply as “Lossie” to its nearly 7,000 residents, the town is growing quickly thanks to investment in the RAF base and overspill from nearby Elgin, which is also expanding. Running alongside the West Beach is the famous Moray Golf Club, a traditional links course steeped in history, with its Old Course boasting ‘Old Tom Morris’ heritage. Its close proximity to the RAF airfield means a round of golf here often comes with front-row views of dramatic take-offs and impressively low landings.
