Lake Titicaca Peru

Lake Titicaca is a large, deep lake in the Andes on the border between Bolivia and Peru, often described as the world’s highest navigable lake. By both volume of water and surface area, it is the largest lake in South America. Various cultures lived around Lake Titicaca before the Incas arrived. In 2000, an international team of archaeologists discovered the remains of an underwater temple, thought to be between 1,000 and 1,500 years old, and possibly built by the Tiwanaku people.
