Valdemoro Spain

Valdemoro is a town and municipality in the south of the Community of Madrid, Spain. It lies 27 kilometres from the capital, in the Castilian district of La Sagra, although it is generally also considered part of the Madrid metropolitan area. Over the last fifteen years it has undergone strong population growth, reaching 72,265 inhabitants (INE 2014). Its proximity to the capital has driven the town’s demographic and economic development. The increase in population has made it necessary to build new transport infrastructure, as well as educational, healthcare and leisure facilities. The town’s more recent history is closely linked to the Guardia Civil, as Valdemoro is home to the Young Guards College “Duque de Ahumada”, a training centre for future members of the force.
