Antequera, Spain

Antequera Spain

Antequera is a Spanish municipality and city in the north of the province of Málaga, in the autonomous community of Andalusia. Its cultural legacy dates back to the ancient Roman settlement of Antikaria, though various sites scattered across the municipality show that the area was inhabited even earlier. The city preserves an extensive archaeological and architectural heritage, including the dolmens of Menga, Viera and El Romeral, along with numerous churches, convents and palaces from different periods and styles. In its natural surroundings, El Torcal Natural Park stands out, famous for the striking shapes of its limestone rocks, which form one of the largest karst landscapes in Europe.
