Marchena is a town in the Province of Seville in Andalusia, Spain. From ancient times to the present day, Marchena has been ruled by various powers. Today it serves as a local hub for the surrounding agricultural lands, with extensive olive groves and fields of cereal crops. The town is also an important centre for processing olives and other primary products. Marchena has a rich historic and cultural heritage. Highlights include the Church of San Juan Bautista, set within the old Moorish town walls, and the Arco de la Rosa (Arch of the Rose). The town is closely linked with the folkloric tradition of Flamenco and is the birthplace of renowned artists such as Pepe Marchena and the guitarist Melchor de Marchena.
