Naples (Province) Italy

The Metropolitan City of Naples is a metropolitan area in the Campania region of Italy, established on 1 January 2015. Its capital is the city of Naples, and it contains 92 comuni (municipalities). It was first envisaged through the reform of local authorities (Law 142/1990) and formally created by Law 56/2014, replacing the former Province of Naples in 2015. The Metropolitan City of Naples is governed by the Metropolitan Mayor (Sindaco metropolitano) and the Metropolitan Council (Consiglio metropolitano). Since 1 January 2015, its head has been Luigi de Magistris, in his role as Mayor of Naples.
