Viñales is a small town and municipality in the north-central Pinar del Río Province of Cuba. The area is framed by the low mountain ranges of the Cordillera de Guaniguanico, including the Sierra de los Órganos. Tourism focuses on the Viñales Valley, which is constitutionally protected and designated as a national monument. Since November 1999, the Viñales Valley has been inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its remarkable karst landscape and traditional farming, as well as its vernacular architecture, crafts and music. Highlights in Viñales include the Viñales Municipal Museum, the Casa de Caridad Botanical Gardens, the Museo Paleontológico, the Palenque, and the nearby cave systems within the Valle de Viñales National Park.
