Ribe, Denmark

Ribe Denmark

Ribe is in the south‑west of Denmark, close to the Wadden Sea and some of the very best sandy beaches on the west coast of Jutland. With its remarkable status as Denmark’s oldest and best‑preserved town, Ribe has a truly unique atmosphere. It is one of the few towns in Denmark that still has a beautifully preserved medieval centre, with old half‑timbered houses, cobbled streets and a cathedral as its focal point. All around Ribe you’ll find details that have disappeared long ago in most other places. Walking through the old town feels like stepping back in time. As the many memorial plaques show, a large number of the fine old buildings are linked to famous figures and to particular eras in the town’s thousand‑year history.
