Castel Gandolfo – often just called “Castello” in the local Castelli Romani dialects – is a town about 25 kilometres (16 miles) south‑east of Rome, in Italy’s Lazio region. Perched on the Alban Hills and looking out over Lake Albano, it has around 8,900 residents and is regarded as one of the most scenic towns in Italy.
