Tarragona is a city and a county in the south of Catalonia. The coastline is marketed under the Costa Dorada tourism brand. Tarragona is the second most important Roman site in Spain. The town has a wealth of historical sites, including churches from several different periods and a well‑preserved Roman amphitheatre. In 2000, Tarragona was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site thanks to its archaeological and architectural heritage. The county’s gastronomic highlights include a wide range of wine‑related experiences, and there are numerous food festivals where visitors can enjoy local specialities.
