Santander Spain

Santander is an elegant port city that stretches along the northern side of the beautiful Bahía de Santander, and it's a lively spot with plenty to see and do. It's a place steeped in history, full of wide streets, charming architecture, and waterside restaurants. Santander’s most popular neighbourhood, El Sardinero, was once a very exclusive holiday destination for the wealthy. Today, it retains a belle-époque elegance and is one of the most beautiful parts of the city, especially appreciated for its environmental quality and stunning beaches. The Paseo de Pereda, with its typical houses featuring enclosed balconies and its gardens, forms a vibrant boulevard that separates the coastal strip from the historic quarter of Santander. The nearby Cathedral is one of the oldest buildings in the capital, with its earliest construction dating back to the 13th century. Beneath the main chapel lies the crypt of El Cristo, a sombre vaulted chamber where various traces of the Roman era were discovered. There are plenty of reasons to love this bustling port city, as its excellent city beaches, numerous parks and gardens, gastronomy, and history make it the perfect gateway.
