Sitges Spain

Sitges is a Mediterranean coastal town and seaside resort about 35 km southwest of Barcelona. It’s a seaside town with great beaches and excellent tourist facilities. Recognised as one of the most charming and prestigious towns on the Catalan coast, it enjoys a mild, temperate microclimate, meaning visitors can enjoy enviable temperatures every month of the year. MAIN TOURIST ATTRACTIONS Beaches of Sitges Along the Sitges coastline there are 17 beaches in total, both within and outside the town itself. Each has its own particular character and services. There are small, large, quiet, family, naturist and urban beaches, all within walking distance. Six of these beaches have been awarded the ISO 14001 certificate for water and sand quality, cleaning services, lifeguards, first aid and ongoing improvement. From June to September, a range of activities is available on Sitges’ beaches: first aid workshops for children, aerobics, water aerobics, GAP, tai chi and qi gong for those who want to keep active, plus fitness activities for older people. Maricel Museum The Maricel Museum is located in the centre of Sitges. This art collection takes visitors on an evocative journey through the last two centuries of Catalan painting, from Joaquim Espalter (born in Sitges in 1809) to Pere Pruna. Made up of more than 3,000 items of varying origin, the collection includes Romanesque murals, Gothic panel paintings, Renaissance carvings and altarpieces, and Modernista and Noucentista sculptures.
