Siwa Oasis Egypt

The Siwa Oasis is a town and oasis in Egypt, lying between the Qattara Depression and the Great Sand Sea in the Western Desert. Siwa Oasis is one of Egypt’s most remote communities, with around 33,000 inhabitants who have developed a distinctive culture and their own Berber-language variety, known as Siwi. Its renown comes mainly from its ancient role as the site of an oracle of Ammon. The remains of this sanctuary are now a major visitor attraction and gave the oasis its ancient name, the Oasis of Amun Ra. Historically, Siwa formed part of Ancient Libya.
