Güimar - South Tenerife Spain

Güímar is a municipality, town, and valley on the eastern side of the Spanish island of Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands, in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The municipality covers 1,029 square kilometres, stretching from the mountainous interior down to the Atlantic beaches, and borders La Orotava, Arafo, and Fasnia. Its estimated population was 18,589 in 2013. The TF-1 motorway runs through the area. Güímar is well known for its Guanche pyramids. It is also home to the Barranco de Badajoz. Part of its volcanic landscape is protected as the Malpaís de Güímar Nature Reserve, whose highest point is Montaña Grande.
