Tissamaharama Sri Lanka

A majestic stupa is mistaken for the high jungle cups somewhere on Sri Lanka's southern coast. As we progress, the splendour of Tissamaharama, a town of great significance in the ancient Cingales Kingdom of Ruhuna, is revealed before us in the 3rd century AD.C, enveloped by five different lakes. Regarded as one of the base centres to explore Yala National Park, Tissamaharama also encompasses other cultural treasures worth visiting: from the incredible Lake Tissa Va to the Sithulpawa Rock Temple or Tissa Dagoba, two of the main temples of the town today become authentic landmarks for hundreds of pilgrims.
