Ameno Italy

Ameno is a municipality in the Province of Novara in the Italian region of Piedmont, located about 100 kilometers (62 mi) northeast of Turin and about 40 kilometers (25 mi) northwest of Novara. As of December 31, 2004, it has a population of 906 and covers an area of 10.0 square kilometers (3.9 sq mi). The word “Ameno” in Italian means a healthy, peaceful place. The village sits on the top of a hill surrounded by mountains, a lake, and woodland. Ameno has many historic houses and castles that once belonged to noble families from Turin and Milan who spent their summers there. The municipality is also home to the Santuario della Madonna della Bocciola. Every June, the village hosts a blues festival in Ameno.
