Abbadia San Salvatore is a town (comune) in the Province of Siena in the Italian region of Tuscany, located about 110 kilometres (68 mi) southeast of Florence and about 60 kilometres (37 mi) southeast of Siena, in the Monte Amiata area. Today, Abbadia San Salvatore is one of the most important tourist destinations on Mount Amiata and in Tuscany as a whole. Over the years, accommodations for both winter and summer have been expanded and a variety of events are organized. In the village of Abbadia, whose territory extends up to the summit of Mount Amiata, there are winter sports facilities and 12 km (7.5 mi) of ski slopes. From the village, which is surrounded by chestnut forests, visitors can access nature trails for hiking and horseback riding.
