Bonaire, Caribbean Netherlands

Bonaire Caribbean Netherlands

Bonaire is a Caribbean island located east of Central America and north of Venezuela. Together with Aruba and Curaçao, it forms the group known as the ABC Islands. Bonaire is a paradise for nature lovers. The island has three nature reserves: one for birds and wildlife, one for flamingos, and one for marine life. Bonaire is one of the few remaining nesting sites in the world for the pink flamingo. Its turquoise and blue waters are exceptionally beautiful and inviting. Snorkeling and scuba diving are the main activities here, and it quickly becomes clear why Bonaire is considered an underwater paradise. Bonaire’s capital, Kralendijk—whose name means “dike made from coral”—is an attractive port city on the central west coast of the island. This is where you’ll find most of Bonaire’s restaurants, businesses, bars, and shops. Kralendijk is an enjoyable city to explore on foot, especially on a long, leisurely walk.
