Chimanimani National Park Zimbabwe

The border between Zimbabwe and Mozambique runs north–south along the highest peaks of the Chimanimani Mountains. These mountains are ideal for those who like to explore on foot and experience the grandeur and majesty of being alone in a truly wild place. The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority maintains a deliberate policy of limiting development within the national park to preserve its natural, pristine beauty and the wild landscapes of this mountainous area. For walkers familiar with the south‑western Cape, the Chimanimani range feels and looks very similar, with the key difference that Chimanimani has far fewer visitors and offers a much greater sense of isolation and connection with wild nature. Chimanimani National Park also includes the Eland Sanctuary. It is a mountainous area with peaks reaching 2,436 metres (7,992 feet) and is the source of many streams, springs, and natural waterfalls, such as Bridal Veil Falls in the Eland Sanctuary, as well as spectacular views of the Pork Pie Mountain Range. Wildlife in Chimanimani National Park is not abundant, but it does include species such as eland, sable, bushbuck, and blue duiker; less frequently seen are klipspringer and leopard.
