Luino is a small town and municipality near the Swiss border on the eastern shore of Lake Maggiore, in the Province of Varese (Lombardy, northern Italy). Luino was granted the honorary title of city by presidential decree in 1969. It is well known for its weekly market, held on Wednesdays, which is said to be the largest of its kind in Europe. Luino is also a popular destination for tourists, especially from Switzerland, Germany, and the Netherlands.
