Floridablanca Colombia

Floridablanca (locally often abbreviated to “Florída,” with stress on the second syllable) is a municipality in the Santander Department at an elevation of 925 meters (3,035 ft) in the Eastern Ranges of the Colombian Andes. It forms part of the metropolitan area of Bucaramanga, the departmental capital. Floridablanca is known for its parks and for the Piedra del Sol, a large rock carved over 1,000 years ago by the Guane, featuring spirals and circles. The city is home to the tallest statue of Jesus Christ in Colombia, “El Santísimo,” which is 40 meters (130 ft) high and weighs 40 tonnes (88,000 lb). Floridablanca lies along Ruta Nacional 45A, a branch of the Pan‑American Highway that connects the capital, Bogotá, with Santa Marta on the Caribbean coast and Cúcuta, a gateway to Venezuela. Together with the neighboring municipalities of Bucaramanga, Girón, and Piedecuesta, Floridablanca is one of the main growth areas for the capital of Santander, with extensive construction in recent years.
