Silao is a municipality located in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico. Its main productive sectors are agriculture and industry, and it forms part of the Bajío industrial corridor (Silao, León, Guanajuato, Irapuato, Salamanca, and Celaya). Main Tourist Attractions: - Parish of St. James: Construction began in the late 17th century and was completed in 1728. Its architectural style is Neoclassical. - Shrine-Temple: Built in the late 17th century. - Temple of the Retreat House: Built in 1834. - Municipal Palace: Formerly used as a municipal prison and government headquarters. - González Obregón Market. - Monument to Christ the King: Construction began on December 10, 1945, and was completed on August 17, 1949. The statue is 20 meters tall, from head to toe, and stands on Cubilete Hill, considered the geographic center of Mexico.
