Ḷḷuarca in Asturian, and also officially named Luarca, is a parish and the main town in the municipality of Valdés in Asturias, Spain. The town of Luarca is both a fishing port and a leisure marina. The parish of Luarca has a population of 4,817 (2018) and covers an area of 5.84 km² (2.25 sq mi). The town lies 90 km (56 mi) from Oviedo, the capital of Asturias. Severo Ochoa, who won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1959, was born in Luarca.
