Antequera, Spain

Antequera Spain

Antequera is a Spanish municipality and city located in the northern part of the province of Málaga, in the autonomous community of Andalusia. The city has a rich cultural legacy that dates back to the ancient Roman town of Antikaria, although several sites scattered throughout the municipality show that the area was inhabited even earlier. From its past, it preserves an extensive archaeological and architectural heritage, including the dolmens of Menga, Viera, and El Romeral, as well as numerous churches, convents, and palaces from different periods and in different styles. In its natural surroundings, El Torcal Natural Park stands out, famous for the whimsical shapes of its limestone rocks, which form one of the largest karst landscapes in Europe.
