Marchena is a town in the Province of Seville in Andalusia, Spain. From ancient times to the present, Marchena has been ruled by various powers. Today it serves as a service center for the surrounding agricultural lands, including olive orchards and cereal fields, and is also a hub for processing olives and other primary products. Marchena has a rich historic and cultural heritage. Highlights include the Church of San Juan Bautista, located within the old Moorish town walls, and the Arco de la Rosa (Arch of the Rose). The town is closely linked to the folkloric tradition of flamenco and is the birthplace of artists such as singer Pepe Marchena and guitarist Melchor de Marchena.
