Molveno Italy

Molveno is a municipality in Trentino, in the northern Italian region of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, located about 40 kilometres (25 miles) northwest of Trento. The area of Molveno has been inhabited since the Neolithic age. Due to its strategic position at the entrance to the Brenta–Paganella plateau, it was contested between the Bishops of Trento, the Counts of Tyrol, and the Counts of Flavon. From 1802 to 1805, the Austrians built a series of fortifications on the lake to halt the French troops.
