Morciano di Leuca Italy

Morciano di Leuca is a town and municipality in the province of Lecce, in the Apulia region of southeastern Italy. The origins of Morciano di Leuca likely date back to the 9th century AD, connected with the destruction of the city by the Saracens. In 1190, King Tancred of Sicily granted the fief of Morciano to Sinibaldo Sambiasi, and it remained in his family until the 13th century. Later it passed to other nobles, including Walter VI of Brienne (1335).
