Ukulhas Maldives

Ukulhas is one of the inhabited islands of Alif Alif Atoll in the Maldives, known for its unique character. The island is environmentally friendly and renowned for its cleanliness and well-maintained waste management system. It was the first island in the Maldives to introduce a systematic waste management program. In recognition of its outstanding efforts to protect and preserve the environment, Ukulhas received the Green Leaf Award in 2014. Every year, Ukulhas carries out multiple island cleaning and tree-planting programs. The island also organizes awareness activities focused on waste management, marine ecosystems, and biodiversity. Thanks to these initiatives, Ukulhas is widely regarded as an environmental role model within the Republic of Maldives.
