Posada Barrancas México

This is the deepest canyon in Chihuahua and in all of Mexico, formed where the Copper and Tararecua ravines meet. It is the best-known canyon in the Sierra Madre because it can be seen from Divisadero Station on the Chihuahua–Pacífico (Chepe) Railway, although many people mistake it for Copper Canyon itself. Its main viewpoints rise among pine forests at about 2,400 meters (7,875 ft) above sea level, with Cerro del Gallego, Mesa de Arturo, and El Divisadero standing out. At the bottom flows the Urique River, which eventually empties into the Pacific Ocean through the state of Sinaloa. The canyon takes its name from the community of Urique, located at about 500 meters (1,640 ft) above sea level on the canyon floor, along the riverbank, surrounded by lush, semi-tropical vegetation and a warm climate. To reach El Divisadero or Posada Barrancas, you can drive from Chihuahua City in about six hours (approximately 304 km / 189 mi). The most traditional way to visit, however, is aboard the Chihuahua–Pacífico Railway (Chepe), taking the train either from the city of Chihuahua or from Los Mochis, Sinaloa.
