Castelldefels is a municipality in the Baix Llobregat region of Catalonia and part of the Barcelona Metropolitan Area, set along a stretch of coastline known as the Costa del Garraf. MAIN TOURIST ATTRACTIONS Castelldefels Castle This emblematic monument of Castelldefels was built in the 10th century on top of Iberian and Roman remains. For centuries, it served as a defensive stronghold against Arab invasions and pirate attacks. Today it can be visited and also hosts different events. The castle is a fortress dominated by a tall circular tower. Garraf Nature Park Much of the Garraf area features a southern Mediterranean landscape. There are well-marked trails, generally circular routes around the main points of interest in the park, designed to highlight its rich natural and cultural heritage. Castelldefels Beach Castelldefels Beach is a long stretch of fine golden sand 18 km south of Barcelona, nestled between two distinct ecosystems: the Llobregat River delta, with wetlands and reed beds, and the limestone hills of Garraf Park. It is 4.8 km long, with an average width of 90 meters and a total surface area of around 500,000 m². Visitors can practice a variety of water sports here, as well as swim, sunbathe, and stroll along the beach or the seafront promenade.
