Tsambika, Rhodes Greece

Tsambika Beach is a long, wide stretch of fine golden sand, lined with colorful flags that mark its many tavernas, snack bars, and beach sports centers. Considered one of the most beautiful and still relatively unspoiled beaches on the east coast of Rhodes, it’s popular yet rarely feels overcrowded, even in midsummer. Visitors will find water sports, beach showers, sun loungers and umbrellas for rent, and space for beach volleyball. In the hottest months the sand becomes extremely hot, so sandals are essential for walking. Thanks to its sheltered position, Tsambika is also one of the warmest spots on the island. Towering above the bright white sand is a dramatic 240 m (787 ft) rock crowned by a small white chapel. A steep road followed by an equally steep stairway leads up to the chapel of Kyra Panagia Tsambika (Tsambika Monastery), a traditional pilgrimage site for women seeking help with fertility. This unique combination of idyllic beach life and spiritual devotion gives Tsambika a special atmosphere you won’t find elsewhere on Rhodes.
