Stavros, Thessaloniki Greece

Stavros is located on Strimonikos Bay, about 70 km from Thessaloniki, and it takes only about 40 minutes by car from Thessaloniki Airport. Surrounded by hills and lush forests at the foot of the mountain, Stavros benefits from local wind patterns that create a refreshing “air spa” effect, combining sea mist with clean mountain air. The town is pleasant, with many parks, flowers, shops, restaurants, cafés, an amusement park, and sports fields. However, it appears that not much is invested in maintaining and upgrading tourist facilities. Even so, because Stavros is not an expensive resort, it is considered a very reasonable and decent choice for a holiday. Stavros Beach stretches along the bay for about 10 km and is divided into two parts by a small port and pier. On the left side, facing the sea, lies the town beach, which is wide, with sand on the shore, some stones in the first few meters of the water, and then sandy, shallow water extending several dozen meters out. There are several beach cafés with their own sunbeds and umbrellas, which are free to use with the purchase of a drink or coffee. There is also plenty of open space where visitors can set up their own towels and equipment. The town offers activities and amenities for all ages: an amusement park and rides for children, numerous shops (mostly selling affordable clothing), souvenir stands, grocery stores, taverns, restaurants, fast-food kiosks, and nicely decorated cafés.
