Day 2: Matera, old town
After breakfast at the hotel, meeting with the guide and visit the historic center of the city of Matera.
Itinerary: Piazza Vittorio Veneto; Romanesque church of San Giovanni Battista (sec. XIII); panoramic view of Sasso Barisano; visit to the underground church Crypt of the Holy Spirit (sec.IX); visit to the rooms excavated in the tuff, now used as a terracotta workshop (admission and free demonstration); walk of Sasso Barisano; Piazza del Sedile (sec. XV - XVIII); Civita and Cathedral (sec. XII). Free lunch and in the afternoon meeting with the guide and guided tour of the eighteenth-century ridge (Church of San Francesco D'Assisi, Church of Purgatory, National Museum of Medieval and Modern Art of Basilicata and Centro Carlo Levi). At the end of the tour, free dinner and return to the hotel for overnight.

Day 3: Visit and departure to return.
Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to the Archaeological and Naturalistic Park of the rock churches of Matera. Panorama of Sassi Caveoso and Barisano from the viewpoint of Murgia Timone. Visit to the rock church of the Madonna delle tre porte (IX century); hermitage; decantation tanks and rainwater collection. Free lunch and in the afternoon, you can visit the Sasso Caveoso. Panorama from Piazza Pascoli, visit to the typical furnished cave house of Vico Solitario (entrance fee), typical neighborhood of Sassi, rock churches of Santa Maria dell'Idris, San Giovanni in Monterrone and Santa Lucia alle Malve (entrance fee). In the evening departure for the return.
