Cassino Italy

Cassino is a town in the province of Frosinone in central Italy, at the southern end of the Lazio region and the last town of the Latin Valley. Cassino sits at the foot of Monte Cairo, close to where the Gari and Liri rivers meet. The town is best known for the Abbey of Montecassino and for the Battle of Monte Cassino during the Second World War, which caused enormous Allied and German casualties and almost completely destroyed the town. Cassino is also home to the University of Cassino.
