Molveno, Italy

Molveno Italy

Molveno is a town and municipality in Trentino, in the north of Italy’s Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol region, located about 40 kilometres (25 miles) north-west of Trento. The area around Molveno has been inhabited since the Neolithic era. Because of its strategic position at the entrance to the Brenta-Paganella plateau, it was disputed between the Bishops of Trento, the Counts of Tyrol and the Counts of Flavon. From 1802 to 1805, the Austrians built a series of fortifications on the lake to try to stop the advance of French troops.
