Gap is a commune in south-eastern France and the capital and largest town of the Hautes-Alpes department. At 750 meters (2,460 ft) above sea level, it is the highest prefecture in France. In the summer months, the town-center merchants’ association “Les Vitrines de Gap” organizes “Nocturnes,” musical and festive evenings during which downtown shops stay open from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Each year, an Expo Fair is also held at Parc de la Pépinière in May.
