Grenoble France

Grenoble is a city of around 158,000 inhabitants located in southeastern France, in the Rhône-Alpes region that encompasses the French Alps. The climate is quite cold in winter, with snowfall almost every year, while summers are hot because the surrounding mountains block most of the wind. Two rivers, the Drac and the Isère, flow through the city, and Grenoble is encircled by three mountain ranges: the Vercors, Chartreuse, and Belledonne. As the largest urban area in the French Alps, Grenoble combines a unique mountain setting with a long tradition as a pioneering, outward-looking city. Its dynamic economy is driven by close ties between industry, universities, and research institutions. The city is renowned for its universities and for major scientific research centers, making it the leading research hub in France outside the Paris region and home to a large international community of scientists and students. Grenoble is a charming, picturesque city, often described as a fairytale-like “sleeping beauty” nestled among snow-capped peaks.
