Cangas de Onís Spain

Cangas de Onís is a municipality in the eastern part of the province and autonomous community of Asturias in northern Spain. The town, capital of the area of the same name, is set in the valley formed by the Sella and Güeña rivers. The most iconic landmark in Cangas de Onís is its Roman Bridge, declared a Historic-Artistic Site in 1931. Cangas de Onís has strong historic, scenic, and adventure-tourism appeal. It is very close to the popular pilgrimage and tourist village of Covadonga, scene of a decisive historic battle, and it sits on the doorstep of the Picos de Europa mountains. Just a few kilometers away is the town of Arriondas, a major adventure sports hub. If you are planning a holiday in Asturias focused on natural beauty—hiking, canoeing, climbing—or simply relaxing in the heart of “green Spain,” Cangas de Onís and its surrounding villages are an ideal base.
